The Oral bike aid station is the turn around for the Olympic distance race.
Ensure proper placement of buoys in the water for the swim course. We will use GPS navigation to place them properly.
Ensure all the age group results are organized by 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in each age group. Also have award table set up according to results mentioned above to be given out at the end of the race according to the race director.
Lead the efforts to gather post race food for the race participants. Food should include (and not limited to): water bottles, Gatorade / Powerade bottles, 4-5 coolers, bags of ice, sandwiches (ie: peanut butter and jelly), grapes, bananas, oranges, melons (watermelon & cantaloupe cut into wedges), cookies, brownies. Knives, cutting boards & cake pans and large bowls are in the trailer. Available volunteers help making sandwiches & cutting the melons just before the race starts. First group or shift will prepare the post-race food and the second shift will set up and distribute to the racers who completed the race.
Assist with directing and maintaining an orderly transition area to provide a good flow in and out of the transition area in order to allow racers a good start when beginning their bike and run courses.
Volunteers to help make announcements and share race information as racers come through transition area and ultimately cross the finish line.
Ensure the remaining and final racers on the kids bike and run are doing well and given encouragement to the finish line. Also ensure last adult racer is OK and given encouragement to the finish line.
ensure youth racers successfully execute their run turnaround and that all remaining racers finish safely.
Monitor and advise racers on course to stay the right of way and allow racers to pass safely along the bike / run course.
Need someone to bike out in front of the lead racer to help ensure other racers are aware and allowing a proper flow for the youth racers.
Looking for volunteers to help in the Kids Transition Area. Ensure bike helmet secured properly, bib is visible, timing chip fastened properly.
Need volunteers to be in the water during the kids swim to ensure a safe swimming environment.
Need volunteers to kayak in water to ensure safety of youth swimmers.
Need to check on how each bike and run course aid stations are doing with water and Gatorade / Powerade supplies and restock as needed.
There are THREE run aid stations (AS) in the race. The 1st one is at the transition area. THREE volunteers are needed at AS #1, TWO volunteers needed at AS #2, and TWO volunteers at AS #3.
Help to hand out participant packets and ensure all race waivers are signed. Most waivers will be signed already. Pass out information and answer race questions that racers may have. Defer any necessary questions to the Race Director.
Lulu's Corner is the halfway point for the Olympic distance (to Oral). It is the Turn Around for the Sprint distance.
Need Adult Sag volunteer to keep watch over the last racer.
Help with Bike mount / dismount area, head counter, crash corner, Run Start / Finish.
Adult swim course helpers from beach to transition area. Provide help with foot bath area and transition safety.
Set up and hand out door prizes to participants.
Mark each racer with permanent markers on RIGHT calf and both arms. To ensure race personnel can clearly identify each racer throughout the course.
Set up all event & course signs. Including: Transition Area, bikes on road, turn around signs, run course signs, finish line sign. volunteers to place signs throughout each race course. Start at main transition area and go out from there.
Volunteers to give each participant (adult and youth) a finisher medal. Also, take off the timing chip from each participant upon finishing. Direct racers to the food and beverage area after the race.
Help deliver water and Gatorade/Powerade to each aid station for the bike and run courses. Bike aid stations: Lulu's corner (1/2 way point to Oral), and Oral aid station. Run aid stations: #1, #2, #3.
Help set up swim finish area including flags and help direct racers into the transition area.
Set up the race venue footprint before the racers arrive. Set up includes: Finish line, foot baths, air stations, barricades, bike racks, timing area, packet pick-up,
Help get all volunteers to check into a central location. Also have each volunteer sign the waiver and receive a volunteer T-shirt and clarification to job tasks and their location to work the event.
Provide race-day information to the racers. Assist in answering questions and helping to connect the racers with solutions to ease them for their race.
