Course Marshals Stationary Stationed along the course at corners. Direct runners and walkers keeping them on course using voice and hand signals. Skills – Loud clear voice, outgoing personality. Starting Line Move runners/walkers to the start line, keep appropriate groups together, keep race course clear. Help keep Help keep strollers and dogs at the rear of the pack. Skills Loud clear voice, outgoing personality. No lifting. Able to walk and stand for about a 3-hour shift. Finish Line Help keep the finish line course clear, direct participants to the appropriate finish gate and assist participants at the end of the race to move off the course. Alert first aid provided if the participant appears to need additional assistance. Skills Loud clear voice, outgoing personality. No lifting. Able to walk and stand for about a 3-hour shift.
Fill water cups, hand water to runners, pick up trash. Possibly provide additional refreshments depending on availability. Skills – Able to walk and stand for a 2 hour shift. Someone may have to lift 40 lb. water jugs. Depends on how you receive water, Jugs, bottles, hose. Follow all Covid regulations.
Set up and restock refreshments. Cut up fruit, mix Gatorade. Follow Covid guidelines. Clean up area after race Skills - Some lifting required, 5-gallon water jugs, boxes of fruit, garbage bags. Able to walk and stand for a 2.5-hour a.m. shift Following Covid-19 guidelines for safe food handling. Must be Over 21 if Beer is being served
Pre Registration Check In and hand out the previously prepared packet that belongs to pre registered participants. Mark name on sheet to show that packet has been picked up. Skills - Detail Orientated, Calm in Stressful Situations, Patience with People Day Of Registrants Register participants on the day of race. Includes confirming filling out all appropriate forms, collecting payment, confirming registrants information gets to timers. Distribute Race packet. May Include Calling out times to runners as they reach mile marks. Recording Times may involve "running" times between locations. Skills – Loud clear voice, attention to detail. Able to walk and stand for a 2–3-hour shift. Understand the importance of accuracy in recording times.
A Turtle is someone who runs / walks or drives the golf cart at the back of the race and makes sure everyone gets in while collecting traffic cones, signage, etc. along the way.
Assist as needed at specific intersections and roadways to keep the racecourse clear and free of motorized vehicles or other obstacles. This may include using flags and whistles. Law enforcement officers will be present as needed/ required at busy locations. Skills - Ability to identify potential safety issues and provide preventative action. Must wear traffic/safety vests, Ability to project voice and/or use whistle for traffic.
Assist with communication along the race course. This may include calling in emergencies, issues with the course, traffic control etc. Must have their own radio.
