Pour water, cheer loudly, play some awesome tunes and have fun people-watching!
Pick an obstacle and get comfy. You're there to offer advice and encouragement. You're also there to enforce the penalty if they fail or choose to skip the obstacle. (The penalty is ten burpees!)
You'll work with kids to help them navigate their own mini-mud run course. For many kids, you'll just hang back and watch. For others, they might need to hold your hand. We just ask our volunteers to encourage the runners and watch out for their safety.
You'll help people get checked in, answer basic questions, and just enjoy the starting line energy!
To be honest, this is no the most glorious job. It's hard, it's hot, and it's dirty. It's also crucially important! Many hands make light work. Last year, the cleanup crew started and finished in about three hours
This is a role specifically for our adaptive runners. The Athlete Monitor will accompany an adaptive runner through the course. They will work closely with the athlete to help ensure their safety, ensure they are participating within their ability level, and guide them if necessary. Ideally, these are volunteers who are here specifically for a certain athlete.
