2025 SLS Dash 5K for Neurodiversity Volunteer Waiver

In consideration of the acceptance of my application and the permission to participate as a volunteer in the 2023 SLS Dash 5K for Neurodiversity (“the event”), I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns, hereby release, waive and forever discharge, SLS Community, the City of Fayetteville, all sponsors, volunteers, contributors, contractors, employees, sanctioning bodies (“the aforesaid”) of any and from any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses, actions and causes of action, whether in law or equity, in respect of death, injury, loss or damage to my person or property however caused, arising or to arise by reason of my participation in the event as a volunteer, or otherwise, whether prior to, during or subsequent to the event, and notwithstanding that the same may have been contributed to, or occasioned by, the negligence of any of the aforesaid. I further hereby agree to hold and save harmless and agree to indemnify all of the aforesaid from and against any and all liability incurred by any and all of them as a result of, or in any way connected with, my participation in the event.

I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I attest that I have read the rules of the race and agree to abide by them. I assume all risks associated with running in this event, including but not limited to: falls, physical contact with other participants, volunteers, race personnel, contract service providers, employees, and spectators including the potential the contraction of a communicable disease resulting from contact with other participants, volunteers, race personnel, contract service providers, employees, and spectators. I assume all risks including: the effects of the weather; high heat and/or humidity; freezing cold temperatures; traffic and the conditions of the road including surrounding terrain.

I hereby authorize first aid in case of emergency from attending medical personnel or emergency services. I understand that I am responsible for any charges incurred by me or no my behalf for medical treatment.

I warrant that I am physically fit to serve as a volunteer.

I hereby further agree that my failure to sign the volunteer waiver will mean I will not be allowed to participate in the SLS Dash 5K for Neurodiversity.

I approve the use of any photos or videos of myself taken at this event for use in promotional materials and advertising by SLS Community and host organizations.

By signing my initials below this waiver, I acknowledge having read, understood, and agreed to the above waiver, release and indemnity.

2025 SLS Dash 5K for Neurodiversity Job Details

Race Buddy

Responsibilities: You will assist the neurodiverse runner that you are assigned to through a warm-up, race preparation, the race, cool-down, and receiving their medal. Projected obligation: 7 AM - 10:30 AM. Volunteer roles may switch depending on the needs of the race.

Start Area Food & Water Stations

Responsibilities: *Set up food & water stations *Keep food table stocked *Keep water cups filled *Keep area tidy *Start line & finish line encouragement & applause Projected time obligation: 6:30 AM - 11 AM. Volunteer duties may switch depending on the needs of the race.

Course Marshall

Responsibilities: You will be placed at a station along the race route. You may be manning a water station which will require setup. Your job is to ensure the water cups are filled for passing runners, ensure runners know the route, encourage runners as they pass by, and clear the route of trash after the race. You are also responsible for traffic control at your designated position along the route. Estimated time obligation: 7:30 - 10 AM Volunteer roles may switch depending on the needs of the race.

5K Rabbit

Your job is to lead the 5K (on bike, or if you are comfortable, running) and ensure all runners are going in the correct direction. Estimated time obligation: 8:15 AM - 9:45 AM. Volunteer job roles may switch depending on the needs of the race.

Fun Run Rabbit

Your job is to lead the 1 mile Fun Run (on bike, or if you are comfortable, running) and ensure all runners are going the correct direction. Estimated time obligation: 8:15 AM - 9:45 AM. Volunteer job roles may switch depending on the needs of the race.

5K Tail

Your job is to trail behind the last 5K runner, encourage, and maintain accountability of any runners falling behind. You will communicate with a representative at the start/finish line regarding runner accountability. Estimated time obligation: 8:15 AM - 9:45 AM. Volunteer job roles may switch depending on the needs of the race.

Fun Run Tail

Your job is to trail behind the last Fun Run runner, encourage, and maintain accountability of any runners falling behind. You will communicate with a representative at the start/finish line regarding runner accountability. Estimated time obligation: 8:15 AM - 9:45 AM. Volunteer job roles may switch depending on the needs of the race.

Parking Control

You will be posted at a specific parking area and will give directions to incoming and outbound traffic, ensuring safety of all pedestrians at all times. Estimated time obligation: 7-10 AM. Volunteer job duties may switch depending on the needs of the race.

Race check-in (race day)

Your job is to ensure that all runners checking in on race day receive their race bag, bib, and chip. You will maintain accountability of all check-in runners and answer any questions regarding the race to those checking in. Estimated time obligation: 6:30 AM - 9:15 AM. Volunteer duties may switch depending on the needs of the race.

Race check-in (day prior)

Your job is to ensure that all runners checking in the day prior to the race (17 November) receive their race bag, bib, and chip. You will maintain accountability of all checked-in runners and answer any questions regarding the race. Day-prior race check-in will be at Phigenics, 4375 N. Vantage Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72703 on 17 November from 4-6 PM.

Day Prior (17 Nov) Setup

Some of the race infrastructure will be set up on 17 November in the afternoon. This will involve heavy lifting and moving the start/finish line, fencing, signage, etc. into place.

Race Tear Down

Cleaning up and tearing down all race infrastructure following the race. Estimated time obligation: 9:30 AM - 11 AM.

Race-Day Set-up

All race day infrastructure and course set-up that was not achieved the day prior to the race. Cones, tables, tents, food, water, signage, etc. Estimated time obligation: 5:30 AM - 7:30 AM
