CleftStrong 5K and Kids 1K Volunteer Waiver

I understand that my consent to these provisions is given in consideration of the acceptance of this registration and for being permitted to participate in this event. I am a voluntary participant in this event, and in good physical condition. I know that this event is a potentially hazardous activity and I hereby assume full and complete responsibility for any injury or accident which may occur during my participation in this event or while on the premises of this event, and I hereby release and hold harmless and covenant not to file suit against CleftStrong, the city of San Antonio and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, their Affiliates and any affiliated individuals, any race directors, sponsors, volunteers and their agents and employees, and all other persons or entities associated with this event (the Releasees) from any loss, liability, or claims I may have arising out of my participation in this event, including personal injury or damage suffered by me or others, whether same be caused by falls, contact with participants, conditions of the course, negligence of the Releasees or otherwise. If I do not follow all the rules of this event, I understand that I may be removed from participation. I give my full permission to CleftStrong, the city of San Antonio and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, their affiliates and their sponsors to use any photographs, videotapes, or other recordings of me that are made during the course of this event. I, the participant, give my permission to CleftStrong, the City of San Antonio and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association to use photographs, audio, and video recordings and facsimile images of me, without compensation, for promotional activities. I further agree to hold CleftStrong, the City of San Antonio and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association free and harmless from all claims arising from the use of said photographs, audio and video recordings and facsimile images when used within the scope described above. To the extent that I am signing this Waiver on behalf of any other participating individual[s] over the age of 18 years of age, I affirm and represent that I am doing so with their full consent and authority after they have had an opportunity to read the Waiver. In the event that a claim is made by any individual over the age of 18 years of age for whom I am signing this Waiver, I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless all Releasees for any loss, liability, or claims made by such person. By payment of this registration fee and/or initial of this form, I hereby understand and agree to all of the terms on this registration form.

CleftStrong 5K and Kids 1K Job Details

Set Up/Take Down

Efficient, willing and able early risers are needed to help with setting up the event and taking down (including but not limited to: lifting tables/chairs/coolers of ice/waters and hanging signs). Volunteers may be asked to assist with route set up, directing participants during the race and parking set up, as needed. All volunteers are required to attend a pre-5k volunteer meeting before race day. A prompt arrival time of 5:00 am is required on race morning.

Early Packet Pickup and Race Day Packet Pickup

Organized and early rising volunteers needed to assist with the early packet pick up event as well as the sign in/new registration process on race day. All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer meeting prior to race day. A prompt arrival at 6:00 a.m. is required on race morning. Some volunteers may be asked to assist with early packet pick up sign in to be held before race day.

Kids (1 KM) Run/Kids Zone

Energetic, early rising volunteers who work well with kids are needed to manage the Kids Run portion of the event, as well as any kids additional activities on race day. Volunteers will assist kids with lining up at the start line, knowing where to go through out the run, and crossing the finish line/finding their parent. Volunteers may also assist with any bumps and bruises during the kids run, and kid activities before and after the 5k and kids run. All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer meeting prior to race day. A prompt arrival time of 6:00 a.m. on race morning is required.

Welcome and Volunteer Central

Organized and early rising volunteers needed to assist with checking volunteers in on race morning and to welcome vendors, volunteers, and race participants on race morning. All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer meeting prior to race day. A prompt arrival at 5 a.m. is required on race morning.

Awards

Organized and cheerful volunteers are needed to assist with distributing race trophies, awards and prizes at the race. Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer meeting prior to race day. A prompt arrival at 6:00 a.m. is required on race morning.

Emcee

We are seeking an energetic and fun personality to host this year's race! Special request: experience hosting 5k events or alike. A mandatory Volunteer Meeting will be held during the week leading to race day and 1-2 other meetings will be scheduled to discuss event day line up and other event details prior to the event.

Photographer

We are looking for a volunteer photographer to capture all race memories this year! Experience with event photography desired. A mandatory volunteer meeting will be held during the week leading to event day and 1-2 other meetings will be scheduled during the months leading to the event to become familiar with our event day line up and other details for the event.

Decorating Committee + Purple Carpet

Creative volunteers needed to decorate the venue on race morning. Volunteers will also assist with mile markers along the route, decorating volunteer stations and midpoint water stations, etc. All volunteers are required to attend a pre-5k volunteer meeting before race day. A prompt arrival time of 5:00 am is required on race morning.

Face Painter

Looking for creative and artsy painters to paint faces at the event! All volunteers are required to attend a pre-5k volunteer meeting before race day. A prompt arrival time of 6:30 am is required on race morning.

Virtual Race + Social Media Chair

Seeking a remote Volunteer Coordinator to promote worldwide social awareness and engagement for the annual CleftStrong 5k and Kids Fun Run Event! Volunteer will assist with running social media outlets during the planning season and keeping virtual racers informed and engaged on event day.

Course Marshalls + Race Pacers

Energetic and cheerful volunteers are needed at the mile markers (including the start/finish line) to cheer and direct participants along the correct route for completion of the 5k and/or Kids Run. You will be placed in your designated spot prior to the start of the Kids Run (8:00 am) and/or 5k (8:30 am). Volunteers will make sure that only participants are within the barricaded route and that all spectators stay behind the coned off area at all times for safety reasons. Volunteers will cheer racers on as they pass and may hand waters to participants, if needed. Also in need of energetic volunteers who are experienced runners to participate in the 5k and/or Kids Run 1 Mi, placed to keep consistently at the lead, middle, or back of the racers to promote their completion. All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer meeting prior to race day. A prompt arrival time of 6:30 a.m. on race morning is required.

Fundraising

Seeking a volunteer coordinator during the race planning season to promote community engagement in fundraising for the family in need benefit. Coordinator will co-chair with the volunteer and welcome committee chair to manage race day welcome and volunteer central on race day. A mandatory volunteer meeting will be held prior to race day for all volunteers and an arrival time of 5:00 AM is required on race day.
